Welcome to Pete's sewing studio

All the magic happens in this one little room in Coolum Beach. Patterns are drafted, fabrics are carefully selected and masterfully cut and garments are lovingly assembled. All by hand, all by Pete.

Initial meeting

Bearded male clothier sitting at a table with another man discussing an item of clothing.

When you meet with Pete he will share his thoughts and creative inspiration to decide on something that exactly suits you. Something truly bespoke.

If you are having a Bespoke Heirloom made then you and Pete will look at the sentimental garment that you have and hear the story behind it. This will help Pete to design a garment for you that you will allow you to wear them near when they are too far.

This process can take place in person, over the phone or email.

There are many measurements required for truly bespoke clothing. Pete will expertly collect these to ensure that you get the garment you desire.

At this stage Pete will also ask about your preferred fit and style; perhaps you like a loose shirt or maybe you want a figure-hugging waistcoat.

It is best to wear basic, comfortable clothing for this.

It is possible for this to be done over Skype (or similar). As long as you have a person to measure you Pete can guide them through how to complete measurements accurately.

Pattern Drafting

Truly bespoke garments require their own pattern. By drafting a new pattern to suit each customer's measurements Pete ensures that each garment is fitted in the way that you need and is comfortable.

This process does take time but allows for infinite customisation of each garment. Your personal pattern is kept so that your next garment can be made easily and to the same measurements.

Muslin fitting

For some garments it is necessary to construct and fit a muslin. This is a trial garment made of a similar fabric for the purpose of sizing only. This step allows Pete to ensure that the final garment he creates fits you as you would like and allows you to move as you need.

The muslin can be mailed to you and a fitting done over Skype if Pete is not able to meet with you in person.

Your bespoke garment will be delivered to you ready to wear.

From here you can go to weddings, parties or work wearing a truly bespoke and unique garment. People will notice your clothing and ask about it. Tell them the story, show them Grandpa's old shirt under your collar and say you got it from Pete Sews!
